Forest Therapy/Forest Bathing is a global wellness movement that is rapidly growing in the health and wellness field. The term “Forest Bathing” was coined in Japan in the 1980’s as a result of notable increase in their citizens experiencing stress related physical and mental health issues. Decades of research revealed that the practice of “shinrin-yoku” which translates to “bathing in the forest atmosphere” is beneficial to your mental, physical, emotional and spiritual health and well-being. This is not just walking in the woods, it is a mindfulness practice where we connect with nature through our sense of sight, hearing, taste, smell, and touch. Shinrin-yoku is a bridge, opening our senses, bridging the gap between us and the natural world with astonishing health benefits.
There is an old saying, “you can not love what you do not know.” Forest bathing teaches reciprocity and techniques to help develop your relationship with nature. This walk is something that you have to experience for yourself to appreciate the true beauty of seeing the forest with a beginners eye.
The mental and physical benefits of Forest Bathing are:
reduces inflammation
reduces heart rate and blood pressure
increases killer T cells
improves mood
stress relief
decreases cortisol levels, our stress hormones
improves sleep quality
boost your immune system
accelerates your recovery from illness
allows greater self-awareness
increases interconnectivity
Allow me the honor of guiding you in this slow-paced, mindful experience that opens your eyes to the natural world.
I will be hosting a morning and evening Forest Bathing session at the Miami Whitewater Park every other Wed starting May 21, 2025. Book your place on the “Events” page.
Groups of 20 or less please. Children between 8-12 are free with the purchase of an adult ticket. Please complete the consent form prior to your purchase.
I will be announcing special Forest Bathing dates for the young ones, ages 5-12 at a later date. This is a wonderful opportunity to teach them about stress reducing techniques, reciprocity and respect for nature on this modified, fun, scavenger hunt type Forest Bathing walk.
We will have the walks in light rain, but not heavy rain, storms or when lightening is present. You will be informed via text within 2 hours of the walk of a postponement. Two make up dates will be offered that day. If you are not able to make either make up date, you will be refunded.
